Hardware Engineer (Integrated Disk Drive Validation)

As an Integrated Disk Drive Validation Engineer in the Enterprise Validation Engineering team in Cork, you will be responsible for the electrical and functional validation of new drives across all plan of record storage hardware platforms, with the goal of ensuring new drives meet Dell Technologies Quality Requirements. Your efforts will contribute to providing a positive customer experience for Dell Technologies customers who use our storage hardware platforms in their data centers.

You will:

• Perform Signal Integrity, Electrostatic Discharge, Thermal & Performance Loss Verification testing on new drives integrated into storage hardware platforms.

• Identify issues found during Integrated Drive Validation activities, working with local and global team members to get to root cause/corrective actions.

• Provide status reports on integrated drive validation activities to Enterprise Validation Engineering leadership and key cross functional stakeholders.

• Publish validation reports upon the completion of validation projects.

Essential Requirements

• An understanding of different drive technologies like Hard Disk Drive & Solid-State Drives.
• An understanding of storage hardware platforms (e.g. Disk Array Enclosures) or a general understanding of IT hardware (e.g. Server, Desktop, Laptop)
• A self-starter with the versatility to learn new areas of technology and associated validation techniques.
• A passion to work and collaborate in a diverse multi-cultural environment.
• BEng in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field with 0-1 years’ experience in a hardware validation role.

Desirable Requirements

• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. Python or similar), networking &/or OS environments (e.g. Windows, Linux).
• Knowledge of Dell Technologies Storage product lines.
• Experience using Atlassian tools like JIRA.
• Prior experience in a lab-based environment performing validation activities.
